FOOD SAFETY AND HACCP CERTIFICATION
Capital Roasters is an organisation which prides itself on quality.
Part of our commitment to quality comes in the form of food safety and
HACCP certification.
WHAT IS FOOD SAFETY CERTIFICATION ?
There is increasing demand from both the government and consumers
for food that is safe and of the highest quality. Production of
contaminated foods can result in poisoning, product recall, lengthy and
expensive legal battles and a damaged public image. For you, the
consumer, the last thing you want on your special day is a case of food
poisoning.
Organisations and businesses involved in any aspect of food production
or preperation should seek to obtain nationally recognised
certification which simply put, means the company has undertaken
training on all levels from management down to the "shop floor" to
ensure that the Food Safety Standards developed by the Australian-New
Zealand Food Authority are adhered to. More information on Food Safety
standards in Australia can be found on the ANZFA web site.
WHAT IS HACCP?
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is an
internationally accepted methodology for managing the risks associated
with food and beverage safety. Designed to provide increased control
during critical stages of food preparation, HACCP is a systematic
method using a "Seven Principle System" for analysing food processes.
To gain a better understanding of HACCP, companies should undertake
training courses in HACCP food safety management. Once a HACCP-based
system is implemented, a company can seek certification. The
certification process ensures a companies processes are aligned with
HACCP principles so that it can meet it's own objectives and ensure
that consumers and employees are protected. Information on HACCP can
also be found at the ANZFA web site.
